Design
SDE specialise in
the product design and development of goods that combine strong
requirements of style and engineering, Our feet lie in the automotive
industry where we specialise in high quality “Class A”
surface modelling and shape development. This represents the
highest order of modelling in terms of quality and smoothness
and guarantees a smooth transition into CNC machining. Working
from a clients concept from scratch we have the capability to
supply fully finished solutions, Cad models and prototypes ready
for production tooling. The software we use is Icem Surf, chosen
for it’s class leading capability to model freeform components
and assemblies whilst keeping a check on feasibility requirements. |

3D
Scanning
We
have 2 class leading Solutionix structured light scanners and
a computer controlled self-aligning turntable. We are able us
to scan practically any item, large or small, and process the
resulting 3D data to customer requirements. The data acquisition
gives a highly accurate and detailed digital model of the physical
item. We offer a full inspection package as a modern alternative
to traditional CMM inspection. We also offer a number of options
to produce a surface model from the 3D scan data, ranging from
"Class A" surface modelling to semi automated quick
surfacing. Clearly we can use the 3D scan data as a tool to
help our normal design process. The files created by 3D scanning
can be used for design aids, rapid prototyping, computer graphics,
inspection, 3D data archiving or reverse engineering. Typical
applications are engineering and manufacturing, animation, cultural
heritage and medical. |
